October 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th Costumes of the Day

Sidetracked by work and play I had to post the full weekend for today.

October 21st (Thanks to Jenny) Iron Chef:  Wear a chef hat with an apron and carry an iron.

October 22nd (Thanks to Roger & Shell) Dick-tater: Get a potato or Mr. Potato head and string it around your waist to hang...well, you know...

October 23rd Hairy Potter: Wear a hairy costume without the mask and carry a planter or clay pot around.

October 24th Bloody Mary had a Little Lamb:  A scary crossover classic, dress in your best blood bath with a ghostly face and drag a mauled looking blood covered stuffed lamb on a chain.  Yeah, that's a sweet addition to my Scarytales series :)

Happy Costume Hunting :)

October 19th Costume of the Day

A Lady Gaga tribute...

Poker Face: Draw the four suits on your face (heart, diamond, clubs, spade).  To really add to the costume you can pin cards in groups of a full house, four of a kind, flush, etc. to a shirt.

October 18th Costume of the Day

Not to beat the angel theme to death, but here's another spin on the feathery lovliness.
Earth Angel: Wear an angel costume and on the dress/robe use paint to make a map of the world (It's a 1950's classic by The Penguins in case all you youngins missed the pun!)

October 16th Costume of the Day

LOL!  Here's a funny classic...

"It puts the lotion on the skin":  You can go retro with a tan skin suit (They're all the rage this season with a multitude of colors--hubs has one!) and carry a bottle of lotion.

OR

Joe Dirt style: skin suit, sleeveless plaid button down shirt, a mullet, and lotion.

October 15th Costume of the Day

For my SIL-ly gal (SIL-Sister in law for you non readers):

Johnny on the Spot:  Wear a name tag that says "Johnny", cut out a big black circle from felt or construction paper.  When someone asks who you are throw the spot on the floor, stand on it, and say "Johnny on the spot!"

**The picture of Johnny Depp has nothing to do with the costume...he's just a hottie :)

October 10th Costume of the Day

Zom-bee:  Another twist on a cute classic, wear a bee costume and lather on the blood, guts and gore!

October 8th and 9th Costumes of the Day

I'm late posting the costumes, blah blah blah.  Been a yucky weekend here in the "Raining cats and dogs, flooding like a banshee, wind blowing harder than a hooker for rent money" state.  This torrential downpour needs to stop.  It's cramping my blogging.

Here's yesterdays costume of the day:

Dingos ate your baby!:  Dog costume with a baby attached :)

And here's today's costume of the day:

Rainbow Bright:  Your traditional childhood fave but with a twist.  Add horn rimmed glasses and some Physics books :)

On to tomorrow!

October 6th Costume of the Day

Bed of Roses: Wrap up in a sheet, attach a small pillow and a ton of roses to it.  Easy peasy.

October 4th Costume of the Day

Goldie Locks: wear all black, get the little gold locks and hang all over the outfit; a blond wig may help with hinting at what you are dressed as.

Halloween Countdown!

It's beginning to look a lot like the Nightmare Before Christmas!  I love this time of year when the smell of pumpkin spice lattes wake me in the morning.  Yeah, it doesn't take much more than a strong cup of coffee to get me excited, however, there is a certain thrill to this time of year.  Halloween is the kickoff holiday for end of the year festivities.

What makes it more exciting than the candy, the decorations, the trick-or-treating and parties?! Why, the COSTUMES of course!  I'm a sucker for an original costume idea and for three years in a row in some form of social media I have posted a list.  This year I am going to do things a little differently.  Instead of posting the 20+ costume ideas I am going to add a new idea each day to count down to Halloween.  Since today is already October 2nd here are the first two:

  1. English Muffin: Wear a size too small jeans so you have a muffin top, get a plain t-shirt and use a paint pen to color a British flag on it, and talk with a British accent.
  2. Afro-American:  A classic (and once worn by moi), wear an Indian outfit with an afro.
This will be a good for all of my readers to share this post and have everyone send costume ideas that I will add each day.  Sadly, no costume will ever beat THE MAGIC 8 BALL:

Just sayin...

Sunday Synopsis: Wednesday's version

Oh what a weekend! So much went on that I have to break it down day by day just to get it straight in my mind!

Friday (Oct. 24th) was the day of my interview for the court job. I get up to the court house (in Viera) by 10:30 just to be sure of where I was going and lo' and behold I'm suppose to be in Titusville! I have never been to Titusville, so the 45 minute drive there was enough to discourage me from wanting the job in the first place. When they realized they had mistakenly pulled my application for the wrong location I was relieved and peeved. Relieved that the position in Viera was still available, and peeved that I wasted $20 in gas!

So I make it home in time to check my oldest son out of school and hunt down the remainder of his costume:

Yes, he wants to be MJ for Halloween! You should see the video of him dancing...Lord help us.

Saturday (Oct. 25): First thing Saturday morning I had my monthly STAR meeting. The Deep Dish was fantastic and I'm still editing from the comments everyone made on my first chapter. I'm so excited, but that's another post!

Then I had to get home to take the boys to our oldest son's Fall Festival at school. Fifty tickets and four won sodas later we headed home to get ready for his game. Baseball fields were flooded so we had a two hour reprieve from watching little league and chasing our 10 month around the playground. Yeah, he's walking that good now.

That night we had a Halloween/costume/Texas Hold'em/Birthday bash for a friend. Our oldest also had a Halloween party that started 30 minutes before ours. This put my husband and I in an awkward position of dropping him off in full costume:

My hubster was the Tooth Fairy, and I went as a Native American with an Afro...and Afro-American! The night ended with a three way tie on the Texas Hold'em tournament and the hostess winning the best costume. It's always fun when you mix costumes, alcohol, cards, and friends.

Sunday (Oct. 26th): We rested. Cleaned house, grocery shopped, and rested.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and I'm looking forward to this Friday. Halloween with the boys will be fun.

Costume Update

So the big buzz in our social scene is Who's wearing What for the Halloween-TexasHold'em-Birthday bash. I've posted some ideas, and held a contest (still going until 17th) to pick the best idea. Here's what I've narrowed it to:

(1) Tomb Raider
(2) Viking
(3) Pirate
(4) Cave Chic
(5) Matador
(6) Killer Bee**with added clothing!
(7) Zorro
(8) Madusa

I know my favorites, so post your comments here to vote or at my MySpace. The contest ends on the 17th!

TGI...T?

Today is Thursday, but not for me. That's right, fellow bloggers. Today is my FRIDAY! Not necessarily a good thing as far as work is concerned, but it's a nice long weekend to enjoy this fabulous weather we're having. Not to mention getting some writing done. I have my wonderful STAR meeting Saturday, also a good motivational boost to keep going on my current In The Works. I also have my oldest son's first Fall Ball game that morning (Go Ant!). Sunday, if all goes well and the hubster isn't working overtime, we'll be touring KSC for family day. It's free this weekend so if any of you get a chance to go, GO. The kids love it.

I'm going to read, write, and de-stress myself from work woes. Things will get better eventually...

Have a great weekend and keep the COSTUME IDEAS coming!
