Happy "We've been married how many years?" Anniversary to my Hubs.  Yeah...I kept him. Here are some quotes and sayings that describe the past umpteen years we've been together and less umpteen years we've been Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin.

The Extraction

My lips were numb.  Contrary to the average individual I preferred the pain.  That at least let me know it was done and over with.  The pressure in my jaw started to ease as I sat up.  My ear was ringing...or was that my phone?  I had set it down just before they knocked me out.  Behind me I could hear footsteps.  A deep voice, muffled at first, then clear as the door opened said,  "It's time." 

Unable to say anything coherent with the numbness I turned to see who the voice belonged to. Peering over a doctor's mask were those dark sinister eyes.  The same eyes that looked down on me earlier with a pair of pliers and a chisel.  I shuddered then took a deep breath.  No more pain now besides the healing process. 

A young girl walked in behind him wearing pastel scrubs and a smile on her face.  I felt a bit more at ease when she handed me a package of gauze and started telling me care instructions.  Then the bad news came...no carbonated drinks.  My heart sank.  How was I to continue my day without a healthy dose of my favorite caffeinated beverage?

I left the office with a numb frown sure to turn into a pout just as soon as the feeling returned to my face.  Driving the mile and a half home I passed the usual fast food places, a convenience store, and the donut shop...mmmm, coffee.  Wait...COFFEE!  Low and behold my caffeine crisis was cured!

Ah, yes.  All is right in my world again today :)

A Day In The Life of Hubs: The Spider Crusade

Hubs from the back door: Hey hon, why don't you come get rid of this spider!

Me: Excuse me?!?!

Hubs (armed with a can of compressed air): I'm gonna blow him away.

Me (armed with my camera): This should be good.

Inspiration

I was driving Bam to day care this morning and a thought popped into my head that just made me laugh.  A friend asked me the other day why I always wear makeup and fix my hair if I am just running to the store, or better yet, for my job since I am in a line of work that requires me to wear a uniform.  Not much room for glamour in my day to day routine.  I simply replied that this (gesturing to my face) is what I show the world every day.  There's no reason not to feel good about myself when I am on the job dealing with the public, or running out to my mailbox and getting stopped by a neighbor.  Putting on makeup to hide my aging flaws and fixing my hair so it doesn't look like I just woke up is my way of preparing myself to face the world.  It's my war paint. 

What made me laugh about it this morning was the radio.  Listening to my favorite station the news guy came on and mentioned something about mugshots.  A flash of faces that I have seen in mugshots rolled in front of me and I realized that was inspiration enough to always look your best!  Imagine your face being plastered on the news or in a newspaper before you walk out the door every day and you too will want to look your best!  Another thing I forget to wear sometimes that makes a huge difference...a smile.
